Position Summary

Insupport of the University's enrollment, retention and graduation goals,supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the College ofEducation and Human Sciences, Center for Student Success Academic Advisementteam.

Works closely with the Center for Student Success, Operations Manager inguiding and giving direction to advisement personnel and resolving escalatedissues related to academic advisement and often conducts direct advisementsessions with students, as appropriate.

Servesas the first point-of-contact for lower-level advisors regarding complaints,complex issues, and questions related to routine advisement procedures;provides guidance and direction to advisement personnel and resolves escalatedissues associated with academic advisement and consult with supervisor ifneeded

Supervisespersonnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing,performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.

Schedulesand coordinates the work of advisement staff and ensures quality of servicesprovided within the College of Education and Human Sciences advisement unit.

Participatesin meetings with the Operations Manager regarding the development ofadvisement, recruitment, and/or curricular programs.

Representsthe College of Education and Human Sciences to the campus community;participates in task forces, special committees, and interdepartmentalcommittees.

Conductsadvisement sessions with students, as needed to support the College ofEducation and Human Sciences student load.

Servesas Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

Performsmiscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advancedstaff knowledge and understanding of higher education student academicadvisement, development, and retention issues, trends, and programs.
  • Knowledgeand comprehensive understanding of higher education processes and policiesregarding student records, management principles, regulations, and procedures.
  • Abilityto coordinate, schedule, and evaluate the work of personnel to ensure qualityof service to undergraduate students.
