Position SummaryThe Department of OB/GYN is seeking an experienced, goal-oriented, resourceful and self-motivated Supervisor of Administrative Support. The selected candidate will plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative and operational activities for the Division of Midwifery within the OB/GYN department and supervise administrative staff in the Department.

Normal working hours for this position are 8am-5pm. Occasionally, early morning hours (7am) or
late evening hours (7pm) may be required based on business need.

Provides administrative support to the Division Chief and Certified Nurse Midwives within the Division. Maintains calendars and schedules meetings, manages and coordinates requests for travel and conference attendance, monitors clinical credentialing, processes requests for manuscripts and poster presentations.
Facilitates division seminars, meetings and special projects. Serves as the principle liaison between providers and staff on day-to-day programmatic, operation and administrative issues and tasks. Serves as first point of contact for staff, providers and external constituents, resolves issues or conflicts as they arise. Provides guidance and supervision to departmental administrative support, to include assigning special projects, allocating work, assessing and resolving day-to-day issues related to administrative support. Participates in recruitment and hiring, provides performance evaluations and training to administrative staff in the department. Assesses current administrative support processes to identify weaknesses and strengths. Develops and implements improved processes. Assists department leadership with strategic planning regarding administrative needs, support and functions. May serve on various campus committees to remain current and up-to-date on University policies, activities, events and programs.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Administrative experience with UNM and a health care setting
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience in supervising, directing and training employees
