Position Summary UNM’s Facilities Management (FM) is looking to hire a Supv, Custodial Services to join our Main Custodial division. The qualified candidate will be responsible for assigning duties and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the East Section on UNM's Main Campus to include, offices, classrooms, restrooms, laboratories, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances and hallways. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures in using manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cleaning and custodial supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record work, safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of cost analysis techniques.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Employee development and performance management skills.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
