Position Summary:
TheUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) has a full-time Systems/Network Analyst 2(Database Administrator) opening on the Albuquerque Main Campus. The positionwill be part of the UNM IT Computing Platforms - Database Team. DBA teamprovides technical support in Banner ERP (architecture, installation, andupgrades), enterprise Oracle databases and Microsoft SQL Server databases,Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, SQL performance tuning, and other enterpriseapplications.

Primary responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Install, configure, upgrade, monitor and manage enterprise Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  2. Setup backups and perform recoveries for Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  3. Install, upgrade, and patch Banner ERP applications and other third-party applications.
  4. Setup, configure, and manage Apache Tomcat and HTTP Server.
  5. Work closely with IT Applications staff to implement and support software solutions.
  6. Document and make recommendations for support and service delivery improvements.
  7. Provide consultation on databases and Banner to departments across campus as requested.
  8. Refresh test databases to facilitate user testing.
  9. Work closely with Platforms and Applications staff to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  10. Provide 24/7 on-call support (in rotation, 8~10 weeks per year).

Thesuccessful candidate will demonstrate skills and knowledge in some ofthe following – Oracle 19c database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux; SQL Serverdatabase on Windows; database backup, recovery, monitoring and diagnostics; andBanner ERP. This position requires on-call work and flexibility to workoccasional overtime, nights and/or weekends.

A successful candidate will have a proven track recordin the following areas:

  • Database support experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple groups to complete project assignments.
  • Ability to perform problem resolution and on-call support for database services.
  • Flexibility to work at nights and/or weekends, as needed for upgrades and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle 19c database installation, configuration, support, and monitoring experience.
  • SQL Server installation, configuration and support experience.
  • Banner ERP installation, configuration, upgrade, support, and monitoring experience.
  • SQL*Plus and PL/SQL knowledge.
  • Oracle and SQL Server database backup and recovery.
  • Oracle database performance tuning.
  • Linux command line and scripting skills.
  • ITIL certification a plus.
