Position Summary | The UNM-Taos Nursing Program invites applicants for a part time Teaching Lab Technician. The Nursing program is located in a rural setting in northern New Mexico, provides a unique opportunity that transforms the lives of our students into professional nurses who strengthen the health of our culturally diverse community. The nursing clinical/simulation teaching lab technician’s primary role includes preparation, support, maintenance and inventory of the clinical/simulation lab and lab equipment to support the faculty and students. Job duties include: Clinical Skill Lab · Prepare skills lab experiences per faculty specifications · Provide On-Site Support, if needed/requested, for nursing related skills labs and clinic rooms · Break down skill lab in a timely fashion, in advance of next day lab; clean equipment, replace or replenish equipment as indicated, remove and store props, purge lines with distilled water, in preparation for next use Simulation Lab · Assist faculty with preparation of simulation experiences. · Assist with nursing faculty, other professionals, and technical personnel in simulation technical support. · Break down simulation in a timely fashion, in advance of next day simulations; clean simulators, remove and store props, purge lines with distilled water Maintenance · Establish ongoing maintenance process i.e. making sure limbs are attached, task trainers are in good working order, batteries are changed out. · Complete end of the semester checks of all skills lab equipment · Upkeep and maintenance of the clinical skills manikins · Maintain and update human patient simulators; assist faculty with trouble shooting, and resolution of problems · Liaison between vendors and maintenance contracts and the director of nursing Inventory · Coordinate with nursing director, emergency medical services coordinator and faculty to make all supply purchases · Establish equipment and inventory control process · Documentation of student/staff and faculty usage of the clinical/simulation lab(s) Why work at UNM-Taos? Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
