Position Summary

UNM IT Academic Technologies department is seeking a skilled professional with the strong desire and ability to configure, administer and support distance education/online learning applications used in the delivery of digital course materials to UNM students. IT Academic Technologies hosts, maintains, and supports multiple enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications associated with the University’s core teaching and learning mission, including learning management systems, synchronous communication tools, streaming media, and surveys/evaluations.

This position provides functional leadership to the team for planning, configuration, front-end administration, documentation, and maintenance of applications that relate directly to our mission.

The successful candidate will have a combination of strong technical, presentation, communication, organizational, and problem- solving skills, solid technical documentation skills, and experience managing and supporting enterprise applications for large institutions. Preferred candidates have experience in transforming user needs into technical solutions, and must be comfortable collecting and clarifying the requirements, leading small-group projects, creating proposals, achieving consensus on plans, and meeting production deadlines.

Job duties include

· Working with learning management systems such as Blackboard Learn, Moodle, and others.

· Working with various 3rd party integrated tools, including content providers, evaluation systems, etc.

· Maintain a broad knowledge of relevant computers systems, browsers, applications and/or related equipment used with the learning management system and its integrated tools

· Front-end configuration, administration, and documentation related to end-user applications

· Delivery of technical solutions that can be utilized by UNM’s faculty, students, and staff

· Manage modifications to systems, such as tool changes due to upgrades to the Learning Management system, the implementation of new integrated tools, etc.

· Verify that updated systems/tools function according to user requirements and conform to established guidelines and best practices

· Maintain a calendar of scheduled team tasks

· Process support requests for specialized tools, user and enrollment management, and other administrative tasks

· Provide support for and make improvements to edge/special case processes

· Perform end-user communications for planned and unplanned outages to various systems

This position will be required to work occasional weekends during maintenance windows for updates/upgrades.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Significant administration or power user experience with Blackboard Learn, Moodle, or another enterprise web-based application

· Experience supporting a broad range of clients including end users, business offices, support staff, and technical staff.

· Ability to develop and deliver presentations to small groups

· An understanding of a higher education institution and its various parts, such as program development, scheduling and registration, and instructional pedagogy, especially in the area of online learning

· Ability to collaborate across multiple groups to resolve issues and complete project assignments in a consensus-based environment

· General understanding of web application architecture, including storage, database, application, load balancing/failover, and client tiers

· Establishing, documenting, and adhering to standard policies and procedures

· Experience researching, writing, editing, and publishing user-friendly documentation of technical services and subjects

· Ability to work on a team and coordinate application delivery efforts with a variety of groups both internal and external to the department

· An understanding of data regulatory compliance (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.) a plus
