University of New Mexico Gallup Branch anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty toteach in the Fall 2019 and/or Spring 2020 semesters in the Business &Applied Technology Division to teach and/or develop Lower Division Courses (100-200Level).

Anticipated openings potentially includethe following subjects:

Introduction to CriminalJustice, Fitness I, Defense Tactics, Administration of Justice, Introduction toCriminology, Forensics Science, Criminal Law, Criminal Justice and CommunityRelations, Criminal Investigations, Constitutional Criminal Procedures,Introduction to Corrections, Controlled Substances, Traffic Control andAccident Investigation, Police Procedures and Police Tactics, Juvenile Justiceand Delinquency, Criminal Justice Internship, Topics inCriminal Justice.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is forthe UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 130 miles west ofAlbuquerque, NM.

UNM-Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico locatedapproximately 130 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexicoestablished branch colleges to provide the highest quality of education forstudents pursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughoutthe state. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs andmulticultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offering communityeducation programs, career and technical education including certificate andassociate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students forupper division entry into colleges and universities.

The Business & Applied Technology Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seekingqualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division classesin various courses or topics as specified above. UNM-Gallup instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but notlimited to meeting with the class during assigned times that may include online,evenings and/or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, gradingassignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning asoutlined by the department chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to theDivision Chair.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

For Defensive Tactics, Fitness I, and Police Procedures and Police Tactics classes:

  • Department of Public Safety (DPS) certified instructor in areas of concentration.

For other courses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law or related field.
  • Certified Law Enforcement with at least three (3) years experience OR Department of Public Safety (DPS) certified instructor in area of concentration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in CriminalJustice or related field.
  • One (1) year documented teaching experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion,and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
