Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for theUNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west ofAlbuquerque, NM.

University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch,Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division, anticipates hiringadjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lower division courses (1000-2000 level) in the Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 semesters inthe following potential disciplines:

- THEA 1110 Introduction to Theatre
- THEA 1220 Beginning Acting

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campusof the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west ofAlbuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges toprovide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondaryeducation at different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respondspecifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of theirrespective communities by offering community education programs, career andtechnical education including certificate and associate degree programs, andtransfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry into collegesand universities.

The Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division at UNM Gallup Branchis seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lowerdivision classes in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallupinstructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teachingincluding but not limited to meeting face-to-face with the class duringassigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery,assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, andassessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.


Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials andcredit hour course loads, as follows:

Terminal Degree, less than 12 hoursCollege teaching $1,016.06
Master’s Degree, plus 12 hours Collegeteaching $969.76
Master’s Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching $920.95

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Theatre or a related field; OR a combination of at least 36 graduate credit hours in the area of theatre and related industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College-level teaching experience.
  • A demonstratedcommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well asworking with broadly diverse communities
