Position Summary | The Latin American& Iberian Institute at the Universityof New Mexico (UNM) anticipateshiring Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses in the Spring 2025 semester. Anticipated openings will be for Adjuncts who can teach introductory- and advanced undergraduate levelinterdisciplinary courses in LatinAmerican Studies, including but not limited to the subject areas coveredin the following UNM courses: LTAM 1110: Introduction to Latin American Studies LTAM 1111: Latin American Film LTAM 1996: Topic in Latin American Studies LTAM 360: Latin American Culture & Society Please consult the UNM Catalog for descriptions of these courses. The Latin American & Iberian Institute is seeking qualified temporary part time facultymembers to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate level classes in Latin American Studies as specified above. Instructorsare responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilitieswill include but not be limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, delivering the course curriculum, developing and gradingassignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the Director of Latin AmericanStudies. Positions are contingent upon need each semesteras determined by student enrollment levels, courses on thecurrent course schedule, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline forstudents to drop or add courses. Candidateswho are selected for these positionswill report to the Director of Latin American Studies. |
Qualifications | Minimum Qualifications: To teach courses as described above are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirementsfor faculty, and must be met by one of these ways: Master's Degree or higher in Latin American Studies or subfield for which you are applying; Or Master's degree or higher in a field other than Latin American Studies that is related to the position for which you are applying; Or Successfulcompletion of at least18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying (i.e. BA or BS degree forexample). Preferred Qualifications: Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield. An earned doctorate from an accredited institution. Successful teaching experience in interdisciplinary courses in Latin American Studies. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution. Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to Face, Remote, and Fully Online). A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities. |
