UNM Taos anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach in the Spring 2019 Semester, Summer, 2019 and Fall of 2019 in the Digital Media Arts Department.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Department Chair of DMA, Peter Walker.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach:
MA 110 - Introduction to Mass Communication Study of the development of the mass media with emphasis on television, the internet, social media, and news outlets in the areas of programming, policy, regulations, economics, and technology. Examination of the social, cultural, and political impact of the mass media on contemporary society.
MA 210. INTRODUCTION TO FILM. (3) This course is an analysis of film as a unique art, and a survey of main trends in film history. It will include screening and critical study of major films. Students will turn in weekly assignments and write responses daily in their Media Journals.
The MA 210 course is a UNM Taos Dual Credit Courses and will be taught in the computer lab at Taos High School

Minimum Qualifications to teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation requirements for faculty, and may be met in one of two ways:
1. Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield; or
2. Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield.
1. Teaching Media Experience + Professional Media Work
2. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
3. Successful teaching in a community college
4. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
