Position Summary

The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine has a Temporary Parttime Faculty position available to assist in teaching PT 580, Prosthetics in Rehabilitation, to the 3rd year Physical Therapy students during fall semester.

The purpose of PT 580 is to provide physical therapy students with information, knowledge and practical experience in the therapeutic area of prosthetics and amputee management. The course contains lectures addressing etiology and pathology as well as medical and therapeutic intervention for the amputee across the continuum of care. This is a two-credit course.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 or more years’ experience as a physical therapist
  • 2 years' experience in physical therapy for patients after limb amputation
  • Current NM PT license required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AT least one year’s experience in teaching including clinical education for a DPT student
  • Evidence of expertise in this area, i.e., conducting workshops or trainings, conference presentations and publication
  • Evidence of developing career in the required field, i.e., continuing education Advanced degree - DPT, PhD
