Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) seeks a Title IX Coordinator to coordinate and ensure the institution's compliance with federal and state discrimination and sexual harassment laws in coordination with the UNM Title IX Coordinator.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

-Oversees all Title IX complaints of gender related discrimination, which includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and domestic violence.

-Provides and/or facilitates the following:

  • Works closely with the OEO Director and staff in oversight of all Title IX complaints, investigations and case resolutions.

  • Works to implement interim measures for faculty, staff and students.

  • Overall guidance to the campus community on Title IX issues including equity in the workplace, academics and athletics.

  • Ongoing training, consultation with, and technical assistance for faculty and staff outlining their rights and obligations under Title IX; including the appropriate response to reports of gender discrimination consisting of, but not limited to, sexual misconduct, the obligation to report sexual misconduct, and the extent to which counselors and advocates may keep a report confidential.

  • Educational programs regarding discrimination and sexual harassment prevention; responding to, investigating and seeking resolution to allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment.

-In conjunction with OEO staff, ensures compliance with the Department of Justice (DOJ) agreement to include:

  • Case management integrity and record keeping

  • Providing notification, outreach, and updates at regular intervals during an investigation to involved parties

  • Training and assessments

  • Utilizing climate surveys, which measure student knowledge on reporting sexual misconduct, to inform changes and improvements to training and outreach

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • At least 3 years’ experience conductinginvestigations, preferably in Title IX and Higher Education
  • At least 5 years’ experience with civil rightsor employment law
  • At least 5 years’ supervisory experience
