Position Summary

The Humanities Divisionat UNM-Valencia anticipates hiring a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member toteach face-to-face Communications courses at the 100 or 200 college level inSpring, Summer, and Fall 2020. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Fall2019 semester. Positionsare contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadlinefor students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to JustinBendell, Humanities Division Chair. Weoffer a salary of $800.00 and $850 for Master’s level and Doctoral levelqualifications, respectively.

  • spring semester 2020; 11/05/19
  • summer semester 2020; 03/01/20
  • fall semester 2020; 04/15/20

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education,and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Communications, or similar field
  • One year teaching experience in either a face-to-face or online course in the field at the post-secondary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Communications, or similar field
  • Two years teaching experience in a community college
  • One year teaching experience in Blackboard Learn
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
