Position Summary

TheUNM-Valencia Campus is accepting applications for temporary, part-time faculty to teach1000-2000 Level Computer Science (programming) courses. If online teachingis needed, documented accepted training and/or in-house training would berequired. Positions are contingent upon the need of eachsemester as determined by student enrollment levels and current courseofferings.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, TheUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of TheUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical programs, Adult Education, and Dual Credit courses to high schools inValencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student bodyof over 2,000 students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org forits workplace policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics or a related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science.
  • Two years of experience teaching or tutoring Computer Science (programming)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., ABD, or EdD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • At least one year of successful teaching experience at a community college
  • Documented training to teach online courses
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, student success, and working with broadly diverse communities.
