Position Summary

The Humanities Divisionat UNM-Valencia anticipates hiring a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member toteach either an online or face-to-face English course at the 100 or 200 collegelevel in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. This is a continuous recruitment beginningin the fall 2020 semester. Positionsare contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels and current course offerings. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadlinefor students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to JustinBendell, Humanities Division Chair. Weoffer a salary of $800.00 and $850 for Master level and Doctoral levelqualifications, respectively. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education,and Dual Credit HighSchool/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty andstaff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in English
  • One year English teaching experience at the post-secondary level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or MFA in English (or related field)
  • One year English teaching experience at a community college
  • One year teaching experience using Blackboard Learn
  • Online teaching certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
