Position Summary

UNM Valencia seeks a qualified part-time faculty to teachHealth Information Technology courses. The posting will remain open andapplicants will be selected as need per semester. For best consideration forthe spring 2020 semester, please apply by 11/05/2019; for the summer 2020semester, please apply by 4/1/2020; for the Fall 2020 semester, please apply by6/22/2020.

The primary duty is effective teaching of college-levelhealth information technology courses. This includes assisting in thedevelopment and revision of instructional materials; presenting material in an organizedmanner; evaluating student learning; maintaining student records; teaching day,evening, weekend, or online classes, as assigned. Maintaining the minimumoffice hours per week per assigned course.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education,and Dual Credit HighSchool/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty andstaff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduationfrom an accredited Health Information Technology or Health InformationManagement program is required (degree or work experience relevant to coursebeing taught may also be considered).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, RHIA credential.
  • RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or other relevantcredential also considered.
  • Maintains credential current on an annual basis.
  • Teaching experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity,equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diversecommunities.
