Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The individual hired for this position will be working with a dynamic team of professionals who are part of the Early Childhood Learning Network Division (ECLN) at the CDD. ECLN provides interdisciplinary training and individualized consultation statewide to a variety of early childhood programs and practitioners that provide services for young children prenatal to age five and their families.

This individual will work independently statewide to conduct regularly scheduled on-site visits for New Mexico Home Visiting Programs. They will guide Home Visiting Programs in strategic planning and continuous quality improvement efforts and will provide targeted consultation needed to support those efforts. They will use research-based practices, data, and state standard requirements as a guide. They will communicate and collaborate with state-level partners and will document and develop reports on consultation services provided.

This individual will share and develop resource materials related to home visiting. Any developed for use with Home Visiting Programs will be presented to state agency funders for vetting prior to implementation.

We are looking for someone who has a strong capacity for reflection, relates well with others, can express themselves well verbally, has strong writing skills, is able to facilitate discussion and reflection on an individual level, in small and large groups, and is a creative thinker. The individual will have a solid foundation of knowledge in child development, relationship-based practices, infant mental health, home visiting models and approaches, reflective practice and supervision, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement. They will also have a familiarity with, and an understanding of, the development and management of home visiting programs. Typically, this position will require a minimum of two days of statewide travel weekly.

The individual hired to perform this work will be based at the Albuquerque UNM CDD office. This position requires extensive statewide travel and will support Home Visiting Programs across the state as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or higher Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Child and Family Studies or a related field with an emphasis on early childhood.
  • Experience, Knowledge, and understanding of relationship and strengths based work, reflective practice, and infant mental health.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, home visiting programs and approaches.
  • Skilled in delivering consultation services and the provision of resources.
  • Experience with:
    • meeting facilitation, strategic planning, and working in collaboration with Home Visiting Providers, professional development teams and state partners.
    • facilitation of reflective groups and meetings.
