Position Summary

Under general supervision, oversees and provides operational and administrative supervision for the programs, projects and activities of the Latin American and Iberian Institute. These include: fiscal, budgetary, endowment and contract/grant management (budget development, financial reports, cost analyses and budget projections; human resources management (UNMJobs, personnel actions, supervision of regular and student staff, assignments, professional development); LAII Executive, Operations and Grants & Awards committees management (membership, funding requests, awards competitions, post-award reporting); programs, conferences, and events management (travel arrangements, logistics, payments); other duties include annual equipment inventory, Franklin Project, Ecuador PhD Initiative, J1 Scholar Coordinator, provide support to LAII and LAS directors.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 2 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Latin American history, culture, and society
  • Possession of a BA or advanced degree
  • Demonstrated success in developing and administering complex professional projects and programs
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills
  • Experience with UNM systems or their equivalent
