The Department of Neurosciences at the School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated self starter to fill an opening for the Center for Brain Recovery and Repair Administrator. This hire will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the center to ensure it runs at its greatest potential, providing administrative support to the Center Director. The Center Administrator will work directly with the Center Director, Core Directors and PIs on budgets, grant management, and facility policies, and is also responsible for monthly billing using UNM Banner System. In addition they will assist in the preparation of annual progress reports and competitive renewal applications to NIH.
This position is responsible for program personnel planning (assist in the coordination of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate student recruitment), makes recommendations and provides guidance on personnel practices to ensure the Center is in compliance with university regulations, policies, and appropriate laws. This position oversees and coordinates facility and resource management, information services, and general program administration. Also responsible for seminars and yearly executive committee meetings to include logistics, arranging travel and travel reimbursements.
Oversees and administers programs, strategies, and initiatives designed to develop, enhance, and support the various day-to-day activities of a typically sized University institute or programmatic services entity consisting of multiple programs/contracts and/or a broad, diverse organizational staffing pattern. Oversees fiscal, budgetary, and contract/grant management, develops and administers operating procedures and processes, and oversees human resources management for the organization Manages or coordinates facility and resource management, information services, and general department administration. Participates with the Unit Principal and internal management in strategic and operational decision making as a member of the unit's leadership team. May supervise or provide functional leadership to a team of subordinate support staff engaged in various administrative activities.
|Conditions of Employment|
High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 2 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Demonstrated work experience that can be applicable to the duties listed below:
1. Banner Finance Experience (Banner 8 & 9, HR Reports, MyReports, JV's, Chrome River, internal UNM billing )
2. Budget Experience and accounting experience in higher education, with demonstrated experience in Access Database, MS Excel, MS Word
3. Grant or Contract Administration including working with granting agency and UNM Sponsored Projects
4. Experience supervising and training
5. Experience providing direct supervision to subordinate employees including planning, assigning and organizing work, interviews and hires along with knowledge of UNM HR policies.
6. Knowledge of University Policies
7. Experience providing strategic financial oversight of funding sources.
8. Experience developing and implementing budgeting and fiscal policies and processes, with a strong emphasis on fiscal responsibility and accountability.
9. Experience compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting complex annual financial reports to Program Director, Core Directors and Sub Project PIs.
