Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, also known as Financial Services, located on Main Campus is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University.

It is the responsibility of the Controller's Office to ensure compliance with all financial policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. Additionally, the Organization oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University.

Within Financial Services and University Services is the Mailing/Shipping & Receiving department which is the mail and package processing facility for the University of New Mexico. The department is seeking a hardworking, dependable individual to join the team, which receives, sorts, and delivers USPS, UPS, FedEx and campus mail on a daily basis.

Position Overview: As the Customer Service Supervisor, you will be the primary point of contact for UNM staff, faculty, external vendors, and customers. Your responsibilities will encompass daily customer service interactions via in-person, phone, and email, ensuring that all inquiries are handled with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of Mailing/Shipping & Receiving bulk, determining deadlines and required services.
  • Collaborate with the UNM Copy Center to assist with Print to Mail orders processed in bulk.
  • Maintain accurate files and documentation for Mailing/Shipping & Receiving, including tracking postage to ensure payment is received and processed through TouchNet.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of storefront transactions to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Coordinate employee relations, focusing on motivation, work allocation, and problem-solving to foster a positive work environment.

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's education, experience, and qualifications.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with retail shipping, receiving, and stock management methods and procedures within a higher education environment.
  • Experience with summarizing and reconciling retail sales and operating statistics, and preparing routine statistical reports.
  • Experience supervising and training employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Proven experience in customer service, preferably in a supervisory role (should be documented on resume).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience communicating effectively in writing and verbally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using relevant software and tracking systems.
