The University of New Mexico’s Continuing Education Department is seeking a professional Venue Operations Manager to join our team. The mission of the UNM Continuing Education is to lead and collaborate with the community and within the University to develop concepts, strategies and delivery systems which generate relevant lifelong learning opportunities for a diverse, evolving society. The Venue Operations Manager is responsible and accountable for the profitable delivery, sales, marketing and daily operations of the venue and classroom space available to the public, the university and nonprofit organizations. Primary responsibilities include opening and closing oversight, building scheduling and maintenance, custodial, safety, security, construction, grounds maintenance, as well as supervision of Tech staff and student assistants. The Manager assists in the planning and implementation of capital renewal and replacement projects for the facility, and develops and implements operating policies and procedures. In addition, the Manager consults with a variety of stakeholders to identify the need for new and/or additional opportunities that benefit the community.

In addition to establishing and attaining revenue goals, the Manager will assist in developing strategic and tactical plans, monitor revenues and expenses and ensure the facilities are properly maintained an in compliance with University, state and federal laws, policies and regulations.

UNM Continuing Education seeks an individual with demonstrated skills working with the community and developing long-term relationships. The preferred candidate will be a collaborative, resourceful team player, a self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills, the ability to establish priorities, complete projects on time and within budget, and the ability to effectively organize, coordinate and complete a wide range of concurrent activities.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

    * Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage trends and technology in events, maximizing the reach and relevancy to the audience.
    * Be able to work varied shifts that may on occasion take place outside of normal business hours including weekends.
