Position Summary

The Community and Regional Planning Program at the University of New Mexico is seeking candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Associate Professor position starting in the Fall 2020 academic year. This one-year non-tenure track appointment will begin Fall 2020 and may be renewable up to three years.

The Community and Regional Planning Program is seeking a visiting assistant professor or visiting associate professor in the area of Indigenous Planning and Community Development. We request a visiting position in the 2020-2021 year in the area of Indigenous planning with strengths in one or more of the following: Indigenous planning; community development; spatial analysis and mapping, and/or GIS. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate courses in planning.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree related to areas of specialization
  • Demonstrated teaching or professional experience
  • Research or practice experience in planning or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Planning or a related field

  • Ability to teach at undergraduate, masters’ and doctoral levels

  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities;

  • Direct experience with community based practice

  • The ability to work in interdisciplinary and collegial settings
