TheUniversity of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a full-time VisitingLecturer II (FYEX and History) to begin in August 2024. We are one of fourbranch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serveapproximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles westof Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near theNavajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has apopulation of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoorrecreational activities, various museums, and extraordinary cultural vibrancy,while maintaining a small-town feel.

UNM-Gallupserves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-timefaculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commissionoffering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career TechnicalEducation certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforcetraining, and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple highschool populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School, andthe Center for Career and Technical Education.

Itis an exciting time to join our faculty as we are expanding our programs,engaging with our community, establishing multiple endowments, and pursuinggrant opportunities while hiring a substantial cohort of new faculty.

The successful candidatewill be expected to teach 30 credits per academic year, in the areas of: Thefirst-year experience (FYEX) and History courses as needed by the FAHSSDivision. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate acommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicinginclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in History from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience teaching high-school students
  • Experience teaching at UNM-Gallup, or in a similar community college environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
